William Hynett serves as the Chief Executive and Accountable Manager for Britten-Norman, a UK-based aircraft manufacturing company, since March 2003. With a focus on the original equipment manufacturing of BN2 Islander and Defender aircraft, Hynett has led the company and its subsidiaries through significant developments. Prior to this role, Hynett was a Fleet Air Arm pilot in the Royal Navy from January 1991 to March 2005, where responsibilities included serving as an operational carrier-based fast jet pilot, maintenance test pilot for the Harrier fleet, and Flight Commander of the Sea Harrier Operational Evaluation Unit. William Hynett completed education at Gordonstoun from 1982 to 1987.
