Madhumita Basu

Madhumita Basu is a highly experienced scientific professional currently serving as a Scientific Advisor in Molecular R&D at Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard since September 2025. Concurrently, Madhumita holds the position of Editorial Board Member for Communications Biology at Springer Nature. Prior to these roles, Madhumita was a Senior Principal Scientist at MelliCell, Inc., where responsibilities included leading cross-functional scientific initiatives and driving innovation in obesity disease modeling and target discovery. Additionally, Madhumita served as a Biotech Fellow at No Patient Left Behind and was part of the Leadership Team for the Cardiovascular & Diabetes Interest Group at the American Diabetes Association. Madhumita earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta, following a Master's degree in Biochemistry from the same institution.
