Sam Umbach

Sam Umbach has held a variety of roles in the technology and software engineering space since 1999. Sam began their career as a Financial Services Intern at International Computer Operating Networks, where they worked with databases and developed software utilities in Visual Basic. From 2001 to 2003, they were a Senior Network Support Specialist at Net Friends, Inc., where they were responsible for 10 servers and 24 workstations and administered Apache and Internet Information Server. From 2003 to 2004, they served as a Senior Software Engineer at SciMed Solutions, Inc., where they developed in Perl, Java, PHP, C++, and C#/.NET and established CVS source code repository and Bugzilla defect tracking systems. In 2007, they held Software Engineer roles at EA Sports and Raritan Computer. At Raritan, they developed Java servlets, JSP, Python, Perl, and C, and authored rpm spec files. In 2008, they co-founded Truer Sound, a company which connects musicians with reviewers, writers, record labels, and concert promoters. From 2016 to 2017, they were a Software Engineer at Eligible, an integrations partner which offers connectivity and processing to every health insurance company in the country. Finally, they were Director of Technology and Architecture at BroadPeak Partners, Inc. from 2017 to present.

Sam Umbach attended Iowa State University from 1998 to 2003, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and Mathematics.
