Viviany Taqueti, MD, MPH is a cardiologist, clinical investigator and Director of the Cardiac Stress Laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and faculty at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Taqueti is a physician-scientist focused on applying advanced imaging tools to phenotype ischemic and inflammatory heart disease, and provide mechanistic insights to cardiovascular outcomes studies to improve population health. Her clinical and research interests include imaging and quantification of coronary artery disease and blood flow, cardiometabolic disease, obesity, inflammation, aging and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, with added expertise in the emerging area of coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD).
Dr. Taqueti graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University in biochemical sciences, and magna cum laude from Harvard Medical School and the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology with a focus in immunology. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and clinical and research fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and imaging at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She also received a Master in Public Health from Harvard and obtained executive education training in healthcare leadership from Harvard Business School. Dr. Taqueti balances clinical care, research and teaching, is quadruple board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology, and serves as an associate member at the Broad Institute, an elected member of the Harvard Medical Faculty Council, and Chair of the Scientific Publications Committee of the American College of Cardiology. She is Principal Investigator of multiple grants, including from the National Institutes of Health, and is a member of the Data Safety Monitoring Board and Clinical Endpoint Adjudication Committees for national and international clinical trials, including WARRIOR, CANTOS and PROMINENT. She has given over 70 invited scientific lectures and is a sought-after speaker at national and international conferences.
