Phillip M. Maffettone

Phillip M. Maffettone is an accomplished computational scientist and machine learning engineer, currently serving as an Assistant Computational Scientist at Brookhaven National Laboratory since May 2020. Leading the development of the NSLS-II Experimental Tools III infrastructure, Phillip has also conducted significant research in reinforcement learning and deep learning during a tenure as a Research Associate in Computational Sciences. Prior experiences include a role as a Machine Learning Engineer at BigHat Biosciences, where Phillip contributed to the development of a machine learning platform, and a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the University of Liverpool, focusing on autonomous robotic systems. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering from the University at Buffalo, where Phillip graduated with Highest Honors.
