Emily (Markovich) Morris is a distinguished academic and practitioner in the field of education, currently serving as a Fellow at the Center for Universal Education at The Brookings Institution since March 2022. With extensive teaching experience as an Adjunct Professorial Lecturer at American University, Emily teaches graduate courses focusing on educational evaluation and social theory. As the Director of the International Training and Education Program at American University, Emily has successfully led program activities and served as principal investigator on research related to decolonizing education. Emily’s consultancy work includes advising on distance learning initiatives for various organizations, co-authoring significant publications, and conducting evaluations in Tanzania, particularly concerning inclusive education. Emily holds a Ph.D. in Comparative International Development and Education from the University of Minnesota, along with a Master of Science in Development Management from American University and a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies and Dance Education from Sarah Lawrence College.
