Tara Varma

Visiting Fellow, Transatlantic Relations at Brookings

Tara Varma currently serves as a visiting fellow in transatlantic relations at The Brookings Institution since January 2023. Prior to this role, Tara held several positions at the European Council on Foreign Relations from January 2015 to January 2023, including head of the Paris office and senior policy fellow, where responsibilities included developing strategic goals, coordinating activities, and advocating ECFR's policy recommendations in France. Additional experience includes roles as a college lecturer at Sciences Po, policy officer at the French Consulate in Shanghai focusing on university cooperation and environmental issues, and geopolitical analyst at Compagnie Européenne d'Intelligence Economique. Tara's educational background includes a fellowship in Global Governance and degrees in International Politics and International Relations from notable institutions such as SOAS University of London and Sciences Po Lille.
