Director Of Brand Storytelling And Communications at Brooklyn Academy Of Music

Sarah Garvey (she/her) has a diverse background in the field of communications and marketing. Sarah began their career in 1998 as a Junior Account Executive at DKC, where they worked until 1999. Sarah then joined Kortenhaus Communications as an Account Executive, until 2000. Sarah then moved on to TV Guide, where they served as a Senior Publicist from 2000 to 2002.

In 2002, Sarah joined Time Inc. and held various roles within the organization. Sarah started as a Senior Public Relations Manager for Entertainment Weekly from 2002 to 2006. Following that, they worked as an Associate Director of Communications for This Old House from 2006 to 2008. Additionally, Sarah worked as a Public Relations Consultant for the FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen in 2008.

Sarah's career also includes roles at the American Scandinavian Foundation from 2008 to 2009, where they served as a Communications & Marketing Manager. Sarah then joined ISSUE Project Room as a Communications & Marketing Consultant from 2009 to 2010, and subsequently became the Public Relations & Marketing Director until 2010.

Currently, Sarah is working at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) as the Director of Brand Storytelling and Communications, a role they started in 2021 and continues to hold.

Sarah Garvey has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor concentration in Music (non-performance) from Boston University. Additionally, they attended Franklin University Switzerland where they studied International Relations and Art History without completing a degree.
