Tyliah Penn-Kekele has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Tyliah most recently worked as a Marketing Coordinator at the Brooklyn Academy of Music since October 2021. Prior to that, they were a Blogger & Content Creator at Bloom Forward, where they wrote and edited blog posts, managed social media content, and generated inbound traffic to the website. Tyliah also worked as a Teaching Fellow at Harlem Children's Zone from August 2016 to June 2021, where they provided support and mentorship to students. Tyliah was involved in various roles at Bard College, including being the Co-President & Founder of Colored Womyn United, where they organized initiatives and mentored young women of color. Additionally, Tyliah served as an Education Policy Intern at Bard High School Early College and as a Peer Mentor in the Bard Educational Opportunity Program. Tyliah has also gained experience as a Social Policy Research Intern at The National Institute for Strategic Studies of the Kyrgyz Republic and as an Assistant Teacher at Andrew E. Wilson Charter School. Tyliah's work experience also includes participating in conferences and programs such as the "I, TOO, AM HARVARD" BLACKTIVISM Conference and the Public Policy Leadership Conference at Harvard Kennedy School. Tyliah has also interned at Baker & Hostetler LLP, where they assisted with pro bono projects and case organization. With their varied work experience, Tyliah brings a diverse skill set and a passion for education, mentorship, and social change.
Tyliah Penn-Kekele obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Africana Studies from Bard College, where they studied from 2013 to 2016. In 2015, they briefly attended the American University of Central Asia to explore Politics and the Development of Central Asia. Prior to that, in 2012, they also pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Government at Morgan State University.
