Yasmar Cruz

Yasmar Cruz has a diverse work experience in the field of education and dance. They recently joined Accent Dance NYC as the Director of Education & Community Development in February 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Brooklyn Academy of Music as a Teaching Artist- African Dance Beats since August 2019. From January 2019 to September 2021, they served as a Dance Teacher at MESA Charter High School. Before that, Yasmar worked at NYC Department of Education as a Dance Teacher from September 2015 to 2019, where they provided dance classes in various styles and techniques to students from Pre K-5th grade. Additionally, they worked as a Site Coordinator at The Leadership Program from September 2015 to December 2017, where they provided supervision, coaching, and support to school staff, community partners, and volunteers during program hours.

Yasmar Cruz holds a Master's degree in Education, which was obtained from Hunter College between 2017 and 2020. Prior to this, Yasmar attended Alvin Ailey for Dance but no specific start and end years were provided. Yasmar also studied at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts - Interdisciplinary Studies in Performing Arts & Public Relations, though the start and end years were not specified. Additionally, Yasmar completed a 500 RYT Yoga Teacher certification at Yogashakti Yoga Center.

In terms of certifications, Yasmar has a School Teacher Certificate from The State University of New York, earned in January 2015. They also obtained an AED/CPR + Infant certification from the American Safety & Health Institute in February 2017.
