Brooklyn Conservatory of Music
Heather Curran is an experienced educator specializing in music and theater instruction for children. Currently, at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music since September 2017, Heather teaches kids aged 3-10 and also leads singing and theater classes at Broadway's Babies for children aged 5-16. Additionally, since 2012, Heather has been an assistant teacher at Mark Morris Dance for Parkinson's Disease, focusing on singing and art therapy for individuals with Parkinson's disease. Prior experience includes roles as an assistant to the president at High Life LLC, where Heather managed personal finances and travel, and as an executive assistant at Happy Kids. Heather's early career featured a position as a theater teacher at the University Area Community Development Center, promoting arts education for children in the court system. Heather holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from the University of South Florida.
Brooklyn Conservatory of Music
Founded in 1897, the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music has been transforming the lives of New Yorkers through music for over a century. We offer private music lessons in every major instrument, as well as group classes, Suzuki method, orchestral and choral ensembles, and on-site music therapy at our historic home in Park Slope. These students range in age from 6 months to 104 years! We provide music instruction to schools and community centers all over New York City, reaching more than 4,000 public school students each year, 80% of whom live below the poverty line. We also provide clinical music therapy to over 1,400 kids and adults with special needs each year, both at our Park Slope facility and at schools and community-based organizations across the five boroughs. Throughout the year, we present 200 concerts and community events on average, many of which are free to the public. Our mission is to remove the barriers that hinder anyone from experiencing music, and to provide New Yorkers of all ages the tools to lead more empathetic, more empowered, more joyful lives.
