Michael Swain Lmsw

Michael Swain, LMSW, is an experienced social work professional currently serving as Team Leader for the Video Advocacy Project and Senior Social Worker at Brooklyn Defenders since September 2019. Prior roles include Social Work Intern at John Jay College (CUNY), where weekly individual counseling was provided, and at Project for Return and Opportunity in Veterans Education, offering support to student veterans. Prior to this, Michael gained significant experience at CORE Services Group, conducting assessments and facilitating group sessions at a transitional family shelter, and at The Fortune Society, where educational programming was developed for formerly incarcerated individuals. Michael's background also includes director-level experience in film acquisitions with IndiePix. Educational qualifications include a Master of Social Work from Columbia University and a Master of Arts in Psychology and Religion from Union Theological Seminary.
