Dr. María Roel is an experienced educator specializing in Spanish language instruction and biliteracy coordination. Currently serving as the IB Spanish Educator and Seal of Biliteracy coordinator at Brooklyn Emerging Leaders Academy (BELA) Charter High School since December 2023, Dr. Roel has previously held positions including IB Spanish coordinator and teacher at Green Ivy Schools, district coordinator of world languages and electives at CASA GRANDE UNION DISTRICT 82, and high school Spanish immersion teacher in the Anchorage School District. With a Doctor of Education in International and Comparative Education from the American College of Education, Dr. Roel also holds a JD/LLM in Law from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, along with multiple certificates and degrees in teaching and music.
