Steven Brecht

Steven Brecht is an accomplished professional in risk management and financial crime, currently serving as the Group Head of Risk and Financial Crime (MLRO) and Group Head of Financial Crime at Brooks Macdonald since January 2020. Previously, Steven held the position of Financial Crime Transformation Programme SME at Santander UK and worked at EY as a Manager and Senior Consultant in Financial Crime and Regulatory Advisory. With experience at HSBC as a Correspondent Banking Analyst and Business Analyst, Steven developed a robust understanding of financial crime risks in the wholesale banking sector. Early career roles include Service Charge Project Analyst at Hanover Housing Group and Business Analyst at Brush Turbogenerators. Steven holds a BSc in Business Modelling and Management, graduating with 1st class Honours from Sheffield Hallam University.
