Carrie Horton has a diverse work history in the health and advocacy sectors. Carrie began their career as a Counselor/Advocate at A New Hope Center, where they provided counseling and support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Carrie also reviewed client legal options, offered advocacy, and facilitated support groups for children and teenagers. After their time at A New Hope Center, Carrie moved on to the Broome County Health Department. Carrie started as a Health Program Specialist, where they collected and reported program data and provided program information to callers. Carrie then became a Public Health Educator, organizing and conducting health education promotions, monitoring reports, and assisting with grant writing. In their subsequent role as a Supervising Public Health Educator, Carrie oversaw several programs, including the Cancer Services Program and the Advancing Tobacco Free Communities Program. Currently, they hold the position of Community Health Director at the Broome County Health Department, responsible for managing and overseeing state-contracted programs and budgets.
