Phil Steger

Phil Steger has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Phil is currently the Founder/CEO of Brother Justus Whiskey Co., where they aim to establish a world-class whiskey tradition in Minnesota. Prior to this, they worked as an Attorney at Dorsey & Whitney LLP, handling legal matters. Additionally, they served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Diana E. Murphy at the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit. During their time at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, they developed legal research and writing skills while focusing on energy law and policy. Phil gained practical experience as a Summer Associate at Briggs and Morgan, P.A. and as a Judicial Extern for Chief Judge Michael J. Davis at the US District Court, District of Minnesota. Furthermore, they worked as a Law Clerk at Xcel Energy and as a Health Equity Policy & Organizing Consultant at ISAIAH, where they led a coalition for a Health Impact Assessment. Earlier in their career, they served as the Deputy Director of Manuscript Preservation at the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library. Phil also held the position of Executive Director at Friends for a Non-Violent World, where they led a non-profit organization and conducted educational campaigns promoting peace and nonviolence.

Phil Steger completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Theology/Theological Studies from Saint John's University between 1992 and 1997. Phil then pursued further education at St. Thomas University Benjamin L. Crump College of Law, earning a JD degree in Law from 2010 to 2013.
