Brown Derivatives Investment Group
The Brown Derivatives Investment Group (BDIG) is a newly established association that caters to the interests of Brown University students in the realm of finance and derivatives investment. Established in the Spring of 2023, the organization aims to establish a forum for students to explore, learn, and apply their interest in derivatives and investment. The objectives of BDIG are: Education: BDIG conducts educational sessions in each meeting to discuss the latest market trends, techniques for evaluating investment decisions and the utilization of derivatives in portfolio management. Members can also gain knowledge by actively participating in the presentation of a buy or sell proposal. Investment Management: BDIG manages a portfolio of derivatives investments with the objective of achieving success by utilizing the unique perspective of Brown students. The investment process is democratic and deliberative, starting with a team of students presenting a proposal to buy or sell a derivative, followed by a Q&A session, and a final vote by the members. Opportunities for Members: Weekly proposals provide opportunities for members who have limited experience in derivatives investment but are interested in taking a more direct role in the process, they are encouraged to volunteer for such proposals. BDIG will convene weekly in the Spring of 2023 at Smith-Buonanno Hall, Room #201, on Mondays from 8pm-9pm.
