James Leighton has extensive work experience in the legal field. James began their career as a Legislative Intern at The Office of Wisconsin State Senator Chris Larson in 2012. In 2013, they worked as a Legal Department Intern at Boulder Brands, Inc. James then interned as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Susan G. Braden at the United States Court of Federal Claims in 2015. Following this, they served as a Summer Associate at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in 2016. James later joined the same firm as a Financial Restructuring Associate in 2017 and held this position until 2019. Currently, they work as a Corporate Associate at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck since 2019.
James Leighton obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with Distinction degree in Political Science and Government as well as Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Following that, they pursued higher education at The University of Texas School of Law and graduated with a Doctor of Law (J.D.) with Honors degree.
