Wendy Xia

Wendy Xia is a seasoned professional in the field of materials science with extensive experience in biomedical and biodegradable materials. Currently serving as a Technical Specialist and Scheme Manager at BSI since October 2019, Wendy previously held the position of Senior Research Associate at Biomaterial and Tissue Engineering, Eastman Dental Institute, University College of London, focusing on innovative dental restoration materials from November 2011 to August 2019. Wendy's research career began at the School of Chemistry, University of Leeds, where significant contributions included developing a starch-based biodegradable composite for food packaging and studying bio-active, biodegradable materials for medical applications at Queen Mary, University of London. Key initiatives at the Wolfson Centre for Materials Processing involved leading R&D projects on sustainable bio-composites derived from renewable wheat straw. Wendy holds a PhD in Applied Chemistry from the University of Leeds and an MSc in Polymer Chemistry from Donghua University.
