Mark Franklin's work experience began in 1990 at GIO, where they worked as an Analyst Programmer. Mark then moved on to Marks and Spencer in 1993, where they held the role of Analyst Programmer for a brief period. In 1994, they joined BT Financial Group as the Manager of Wrap Technology and DTS, a position they held until 2008. From 2008 to 2011, they served as the Manager of Design and Technical Services at the same company. In 2012, Mark joined BT as the Application Service Manager for BT Panorama, and later became the Engineering Lead in 2019.

Mark Franklin obtained their Masters of IT degree from the University of Sydney, specializing in Distributed Systems, OO, and metrics from 1999 to 2002. Additionally, they received a Certificate in Financial Markets from the Securities Institute of Australia between 1994 and 1996. Mark also holds several certifications, including AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2023, Sydney Executive Plus: AI Fluency from the University of Sydney in 2022, Westpac Leadership Excellence from UNSW in 2022, and Certified Scaled Agile Framework Agilist from the Scaled Agile Academy in 2014.
