Janine McKelvey

Janine McKelvey serves as the BT General Counsel focusing on Data, AI, Security, and as the Group Data Privacy & Ethics Officer, leading a team that operates across 180 jurisdictions to manage data-related legal and compliance matters. Previously, Janine held roles at BT that included driving digital and innovation initiatives while overseeing data governance and ethics for various BT business units. Janine's extensive experience also includes serving as Senior Vice President of Legal & Business Affairs at Warner Bros. Entertainment, where responsibilities spanned international privacy and digital law across diverse media landscapes. Furthermore, Janine actively contributes to the community as Vice Chair of Chance for Childhood and as a member of the Advisory Board for PICCASO, while also supporting digital transformation at the University of Exeter. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Witwatersrand and a degree in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Bristol.
