Alfred Fuller has a diverse work experience across various companies and roles. Alfred started their career as a Student at the University of California, Davis, where they studied from 1999 to 2009. During this time, they also worked as a Student Employee Graduate Research Fellowship (SEGRF) at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) from November 2006 to May 2009.
In 2009, Alfred joined Google as an Intern and later became a Senior Staff Software Engineer. From 2009 to 2018, they were a Co-TL of all Cloud APIs and TL of Cloud Storage APIs at Google. Alfred co-authored the official Google API style guide and led a team to design and implement a routing protocol for Cloud hosted resources. Alfred also contributed to the design of many Google APIs and played a key role in implementing an internal API review process.
Alfred's next role was as a Software Engineer at Nuro from September 2018 to April 2020. Alfred then worked at Meta as a Software Engineer from April 2020 to November 2022. During this time, they developed software solutions for both companies.
Alfred was also involved in various other projects and organizations. In 2017, they co-created the Common Expression Language (CEL) and served as a Language Council Member. Alfred was a Founding Member of the API design patterns standardization group at aip.dev from January 2019. Alfred was also a Trustee at the GOGGIO FAMILY FOUNDATION from 2008.
Recently, Alfred joined Buf in March 2023 as a Software Engineer. Alfred continues to contribute their skills and expertise to the software development field.
Alfred Fuller completed their education at the University of California, Davis. From 1999 to 2004, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computational Physics and a second BS degree in Computer Science and Engineering. To further their academic pursuits, they pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science focusing on Algorithms from 2004 to 2006. Alfred completed their education journey at the University of California, Davis, by obtaining a Ph.D. in Computer Science with a specialization in Algorithms from 2004 to 2009.
