Hunter Old Elk

Hunter Old Elk serves as the Assistant Curator at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West since May 2016, overseeing the Plains Indian Museum, which highlights the rich narratives of Plains Indian Peoples and their cultures. Previous roles include Curatorial Assistant and Research Assistant, focusing on the museum's collections and collaborating with tribal members for culturally appropriate practices. Hunter Old Elk gained initial experience as an intern and archival processor at Rhoads Memorial Archives. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Native American History from Mount St. Mary's University and ongoing studies toward a Master of Arts in Cultural Heritage Management at Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, Hunter Old Elk studied abroad in Prague, Czech Republic, through the American Institute of Foreign Study.
