Buffalo Prep

Buffalo Prep has been working diligently since 1989 to close the access and opportunity gaps in Western New York and now serves over 650 students and alumni annually. Buffalo Prep invites children with top academic promise to participate in highly personalized educational programs that will guide, nurture, and prepare them as they strive to make the most of their education. Many students begin Buffalo Prep’s rigorous program in fifth grade, at just 10 or 11 years old, and commit evenings, weekends, and their summers to prepare for high achievement in our unique seven-year pipeline of programs. The commitment expands well beyond Buffalo Prep’s dedicated staff and the participating families. We nurture the dreamer, the leader, the activist, and the scholar in every student, while strengthening the diversity of our partner schools. Buffalo Prep works to cultivate our students’ academic preparedness while also focusing on change within the community, striving to affect systemic changes that hinder marginalized and low-income students’ performances to begin with. Our READI (Realizing Equity, Access, Diversity, and Inclusion) program is a series of workshops, trainings, and presentations that promote educational and racial equity throughout our community.
