Mary Pokorski is an experienced safety and environmental professional with a diverse background in health, safety, and environmental engineering. Currently serving as the Safety and Security Manager at The Buffalo Zoo since October 2021, Mary previously held roles including Health, Safety and Environmental Engineer at Unifrax I LLC and Environmental Health Safety Specialist at Panasonic Solar. Earlier experience includes a position as a Research Scientist at Albany Molecular Research Inc. and an ELISA Laboratory Technician at IMMCO Diagnostics Inc. Mary also completed internships with Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper and Buffalo State College, focusing on environmental assessments and monitoring. Mary earned a Master of Science in Environmental Science from Buffalo State University and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from D'Youville University.

Buffalo Zoo Facts Founded in 1875, the Buffalo Zoo is the third oldest zoo in the United States. Each year, the Zoo welcomes approximately 400,000 visitors and is the second largest tourist attraction in Western New York, second only to Niagara Falls.
