Betsy Barrett

Betsy Barrett is the current Director of Communications & Marketing at NABTU. Prior to their current position, Ms. Barrett served as Vice President at The Glover Park Group from May 2014 to April 2016. There, they managed multiple accounts and directed teams in strategic communications planning to raise profiles of clients facing new initiatives, donor campaigns, transitions, complex crises, reputation issues and legislative and regulatory fights. Ms. Barrett also created and executed branding, marketing and public policy strategies for corporations, trade associations and nonprofits. Her specialty is in marketing, message development, media relations counsel and training, and integrated communications campaign management.

Before their time at The Glover Park Group, Ms. Barrett served as Communications Director at The Internet Association from September 2012 to May 2014. There, they helped launch The Internet Association, the DC-based trade organization representing the top companies in the Internet industry, serving as its first lead communications executive. Ms. Barrett directed and managed communications and media strategic campaigns – including cross-country news media tours – to advance Internet public policy priorities for leading global Internet companies (e.g. Google, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, Uber, Airbnb, IAC, Salesforce, AOL, Yahoo!, eBay, LinkedIn, among others). Additionally, they managed the communications and digital team of five, including public affairs consultants. Ms. Barrett also directed campaign programs and served as lead spokesperson.

Betsy Barrett pursued a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Arkansas.

Betsy Barrett reports to Sean McGarvey, President. They are on a team with Kate Walsh - Director of Communications, Mike Monroe - Chief of Staff, and Stuart Barnable - Director of Operations. and William Ponds - Manager, Communications & Marketing reports to Betsy Barrett.
