Hamilton McNutt has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Hamilton is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Building Markets, a position they have held since December 2022. Prior to this, they co-founded Strategic Impact Advisors (SIA) in 2014 and served as the Vice President. At SIA, they focused on promoting digital technology for financial inclusion and using economic analysis for community development. Hamilton worked at NetHope as a Technical Advisor for Payment Innovations from December 2011 to October 2014. Hamilton also held the position of Program Manager at Solimar International from January 2008 to November 2011. Before that, they were a Fellow at Alexius International from June 2007 to January 2008. Hamilton's career began in 2004 as a Special Education Teacher at the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), where they worked for three years and collaborated with teachers and principals to develop specialized curriculum for special needs children.

Hamilton McNutt attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2000 to 2004, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with a focus on International Development. Following their time at UNC-Chapel Hill, they enrolled at Trinity Washington University from 2004 to 2006 and obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching, specializing in Education.
