Shumar Dornners

Shumar Dornners is a Community Specialist at Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency (BOSS) since February 2020, focusing on providing sustainable resources to violence-stricken communities and elevating the voices of those most affected by violence through culturally appropriate practices. Previously, Shumar served as the City Wide Lead Violence Interrupter at Youth ALIVE! from February 2016 to November 2019, where responsibilities included coordinating operations of Oakland's Violence Interruption Teams, overseeing street outreach intervention, crisis response, community mobilization, and managing internal controls for programmatic outcomes. Shumar holds an Associate's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies from Berkeley City College, completed between January 2010 and December 2012.
