Dr. Ximena Hartsock

Dr. Ximena Hartsock has a long and varied career in education and advocacy. Dr. Ximena began their career in 2000 as the Math Program Coordinator - Department of Education Grant at DCPS, where they implemented a systemwide, multi-year parent engagement program in DC schools. In 2004, they became the Assistant Principal at Harriet Tubman Elementary School. In 2005, they were promoted to Principal at John Ross Elementary School. In 2007, they moved to the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) as the Deputy Chief of Teaching and Learning. In 2009, they were appointed Director Department of Parks and Recreation/Executive Cabinet of the Mayor at the DC Department of Parks and Recreation. In 2010, they joined StudentsFirst as National Director. In 2012, they founded Phone2Action, a comprehensive digital engagement and communications platform for grassroots advocacy, public affairs, and government relations. In 2022, they co-founded BuildWithin, a company that helps employers deploy apprenticeship programs, prioritizing potential over credentials, while building an increasingly loyal employee base.

Dr. Ximena Hartsock received their Doctorate in Administration and Policy from The George Washington University in 2004. Dr. Ximena also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Secondary Education and Teaching from Universidad de La Serena.
