Sara B.t. Thiel

Sara B.T. Thiel currently serves as a Senior Associate Editor at Built In since June 2021, following a progressive career in theater and education. Previously, Sara held several roles at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, including Public Humanities Manager, where adult learning programs impacted over 40,000 students annually, and Associate Editor of the PreAmble program, delivering pre-show talks. Sara's academic experience includes positions as Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts at the University of Pittsburgh and Instructor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, specializing in Shakespeare and their contemporaries. Sara holds a PhD in Theatre Literature, History and Criticism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, along with an MA from the same institution and a BA from Stephen F. Austin State University.
