Mitch Sanford

Mitch Sanford has an extensive work experience in the banking and financial industry. Mitch has held various leadership positions throughout their career. Most recently, they served as the President of Builtwell Bank. Before that, they worked as the Executive Vice President at First Bank.

Prior to their role at First Bank, Mitch was the President and CEO of First Bank from 2019 to 2022. Mitch also held the position of President at First Bank from 2019 to 2020.

Before joining First Bank, Mitch worked at First Bank of Dalton, where they served as the EVP-Chief Credit Officer from 2011 to 2019.

Mitch gained experience in credit and risk management roles at Covenant Bank & Trust and Premier National Bank between 2000 and 2011.

Earlier in their career, Mitch held the role of VP-Business Banking at Wachovia, a Wells Fargo Company, from 2001 to 2006. Mitch also worked as EVP-Sr. Credit Officer at Premier National Bank from 2000 to 2001.

Prior to that, Mitch served as the SVP-Commercial Banking Manager at Cohutta Banking Company (An affiliate of Synovus Financial) from 1996 to 2000.

Before joining Cohutta Banking Company, Mitch worked as a Risk Management Consultant at Prudent Risk Management from 1992 to 1996.

Mitch began their career in the banking sector with Bank of America, NationsBank, Citizens & Southern National Bank, where they held the role of VP-Business Banking from 1986 to 1992.

Mitch Sanford attended Dalton State College from 2010 to 2012, where they obtained a B.A. degree in Accounting. Mitch then attended Brenau University from 1985 to 1988, earning a B.S. degree in Business Administration.
