Martin's educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Process Engineering from Institut national polytechnique de Lorraine, obtained between 1998 and 2002, and a Diplom-Ingenieur in Chemical Engineering from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology from 1991 to 1998. Additionally, a six-month research project was completed as an exchange student at UMIST in 1996, contributing to undergraduate studies in Karlsruhe.
