Bureau of Economic Analysis
Jay Maharath is an experienced economist currently working at the Bureau of Economic Analysis since April 2020, where responsibilities include developing and analyzing NIPA estimates for the capital consumption allowance and serving as a backup analyst for nonfarm proprietors’ income estimates. Prior experience includes roles as a Student Technical Specialist and Project Assistant at the UNM Bureau of Business and Economic Research, where engagement involved economic analysis and forecasting, and as a Team Leader and Student Panelist for the Domenici Institute Public Policy Conference. Additionally, contributions were made as a Leadership and Research Intern at Think New Mexico, focusing on quantitative research related to lottery scholarship programs. Jay Maharath holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, graduating summa cum laude from The University of New Mexico, and a Master of Business Administration with a focus on Strategic Management and Policy and Finance from the UNM Anderson School of Management.
