Troy Phelps has extensive experience in fire management, currently serving as the Regional Safety Program Manager and Fire Management Officer at the Bureau of Indian Affairs since June 2017. Troy oversees a comprehensive High Complexity Fire Program, which includes a Fuels Management Program targeting over 10,000 acres annually, a visible Fire Prevention/Education initiative, and a dynamic Fire Suppression Program with over 100 Emergency Fire Personnel, while also providing leadership to supporting teams. Previously, Troy held various roles within the US Forest Service from 2009 to 2017, as the District Fire Management Officer overseeing fire suppression resources, and served in multiple positions within the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from 1995 to 2009, including Assistant Fire Management Officer and Prescribed Fire Specialist, demonstrating a solid foundation in fire program planning, implementation, and management.
