James Halperin is an experienced professional in forestry and land management with a robust background in climate change and environmental monitoring. Since June 2021, James has held multiple positions at the Bureau of Land Management, including Field Manager, Branch Chief, and Monitoring Coordinator. Prior to this role, James served as a Forestry and Climate Change Specialist at USAID from March 2017 to April 2021 and was a PhD Researcher at The University of British Columbia, focusing on forest monitoring models and REDD+ MRV in Zambia from January 2013 to March 2017. Additional experience includes serving as a Forest Mensurationist at the Ministry of Forestry, Lands and Natural Resource Operations in 2016 and as a Forester with the United States Forest Service from April 2004 to January 2013. James holds a Ph.D. in Forest Resources Production and Management and has degrees in International Forestry, Geographic Information Science and Cartography, and Political Science.
