Jeff Krauss

Acting Assistant Director, Communications at Bureau of Land Management

Jeff Krauss became Acting Assistant Director for Communications in September 2022. He has been with the BLM almost 25 years and has served as the Deputy Assistant Director for Communications since 2017. He has held other positions in the Headquarters office as well, including Division Chief for External and Intergovernmental Affairs and Division Chief for Public Affairs and Digital Communications. Before becoming Division Chief for Public Affairs in 2007, he spent a year as a BLM Fellow on Capitol Hill. Krauss began his BLM career as a seasonal forestry technician in Missoula, Montana, and joined the BLM full-time in 1996. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Jamaica and an AmeriCorps team leader in Charleston, South Carolina. Prior to the Federal Government, Krauss worked in sports communications for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games and NBC Sports covering the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in agriculture from the University of Tennessee.
