Stephen Plank

Superintendent at Burlington Area School District

Steve Plank joined the Burlington Area School District as Superintendent in July 2019. As Superintendent, he oversees the administrative operations for the District. He works closely with the school board, district administrators, and the community to meet the educational and emotional needs of all Burlington students.

His passion for education stems from his driving mission in leadership that has been to tirelessly implement an unyielding vision focused on improving learning opportunities and providing engaging experiences for all those he serves. Steve believes education, at its best, allows for people to have choices and is a key factor in finding happiness and fulfillment in one’s pursuits and that education exposes people to a new realm of experience that fosters personal and professional growth; formal education is an asset that should be available to anyone who wants it.

A dedicated educator, he has gained experience from a progression of teaching and administrative roles. Before joining BASD, he most recently served the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District as Principal at Middleton High School in Middleton, WI. His extensive experience in school administration includes roles in varying administrative capacities in schools and districts of various sizes and settings, including Fine Arts administrator at nationally renowned Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Prior to his work in school administration, Steve taught instrumental music at Marinette Middle School and later at Watertown High School.
