Mecca Mitchell has extensive work experience in various leadership roles focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Mecca is currently the Senior Vice President - Leadership & Organizational Development, DEI, and Community Impact at Burlington Stores, Inc., where they are responsible for creating inclusive environments and leveraging diversity to drive business objectives. Mecca also serves as the President of the Burlington Stores Foundation and previously held the position of Senior Vice President & Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.

Prior to their role at Burlington Stores, Inc., Mecca Mitchell served as the Senior Vice President for Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement & Chief Diversity Officer at Westchester Medical Center Health Network. In this position, they ensured that organizational policies align with diversity and inclusion best practices and developed strategic initiatives to promote patient-centered care and support local communities.

Before joining Westchester Medical Center Health Network, Mecca Mitchell was the Chief Diversity Officer for the State of New York, where they implemented initiatives to enhance diversity and minority and women-owned business participation. Mecca advised the Governor on workforce diversity and served as the Governor's liaison to organizations representing MWBEs.

Mecca also has experience working in the NYC Department of Education, where they supervised investigations of civil rights violations and employment discrimination, and the NYS Commission of Investigation, where they conducted public hearings and issued reports on various matters.

Mecca Mitchell began their career as an Assistant District Attorney at the New York County (Manhattan) District Attorney's Office, where they handled criminal investigations, trials, and plea negotiations.

Mecca Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science & Criminal Justice from the University at Albany, SUNY from 1993 to 1997. Mecca then obtained a Juris Doctor (Law Degree) from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, studying from 1997 to 2000. In 2008, they attended Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations for a Certification in Diversity Management & Equal Employment Opportunity Studies, completing the program in 2009.
