Busara
Mareike Schomerus is a seasoned academic and practitioner in international development and governance, currently serving as a Visiting Lecturer at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago and as Vice President at Busara since May 2020. Prior experience includes roles as Research Director for the Secure Livelihoods Research Programme, Director of Programme Politics and Governance, and Senior Research Fellow at ODI, as well as an Assistant Professorial Research Fellow and CEO of the Justice and Security Research Programme at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Schomerus has also worked as an Independent Research Consultant for various organizations, including UNICEF and The World Bank. A background in journalism as a broadcaster complements an extensive educational portfolio, which includes a PhD in International Development from LSE and multiple degrees from respected institutions such as Columbia University and Smith College.
