Andrea Means has a diverse work experience in the fields of finance and education. Andrea began their career as a Substitute Teacher at Champaign Unit 4 Schools in January 2000 and continued in that position until June 2000. From June 2000 to December 2000, Andrea worked as a 2nd grade Elementary Teacher at the same school. In January 2001, they transitioned into the finance industry and joined Busey Bank as an Investment Accounting Officer, where they continue to work to this day.

Andrea Means obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Biological Sciences from Eastern Illinois University. Andrea attended the university from 1995 to 1999. Later, from 2003 to 2008, they pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the same university. The field of study for their MBA is not specified.
