Pattrick Smellie

Pattrick Smellie is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in journalism, corporate communications, and brand management. As Director of The Hugo Group since April 2013, Pattrick leads insights into various economic and political trends through the Hugo Panel. Pattrick also owns BusinessDesk NZ, which provides specialized journalism and is New Zealand's most widely syndicated business news wire service. Previous roles include significant positions at Contact Energy, managing brand strategy and corporate communications, as well as various leadership roles with Amnesty International New Zealand. Pattrick's career spans over three decades, including notable contributions as a New Zealand Correspondent for The Australian and a research fellow at the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law. Pattrick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from The University of Auckland.
