Randy Ahrens

Director at Butterfly Pavilion

Randy Ahrens is the current Director at Butterfly Pavilion. Randy has a long and impressive work history, starting with their time as Chairman at The Broomfield Chamber of Commerce from January 2003 to December 2012. Randy was also involved in implementing the latest strategic plan which included moving into a new central location, creation of the Broomfield Resource Center, and co-location with the Broomfield Economic Development Corporation.

From November 2001 to November 2019, Ahrens served 6 years as Mayor for the City and County of Broomfield. Randy was term limited but was just appointed by Colorado Governor to serve on Air Quality Control Commission. As Mayor, they initiated zero based budgeting practices and helped create long term financial plans. Randy also interfaced with elected officials from neighboring counties to enable mutual projects to come to fruition and spent time in Washington DC to lobby for transportation improvement projects in and around the community.

Ahrens has also served on Parks & Recreation Committee, Local Licensing Board, Open Space & Trails Committee, Public Art Committee, Adams County Region of Government Rep, and the Executive Board for the Broomfield Economic Development Corporation. Randy was appointed by Governor Owens to the Regional Air Quality Council and represented the Council for Colorado Counties Inc. Randy also served on the National Association of Counties as representative Public Health Committee in Washington DC.

Randy Ahrens received a BS in engineering from Colorado State University with a focus in agricultural and chemical engineering. Randy then attended Broomfield High School.
