Stephen Makin has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Stephen is currently working as a Member Experience Manager at By Miles since January 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Customer Experience Team Lead at the same company from March 2020 to December 2021.

As a Freelance Photographer and Videographer & Content Consultant since October 2016, Stephen has worked with a range of clients on branding, lifestyle, and commercial contracts. Stephen'sexpertise includes capturing headshots, portraits, weddings, sports, architecture, interiors, food, and drink. Stephen has also created video content for clients.

Before their freelance career, Stephen worked as the Head of Operations and later as an Operations staff at Target Club from October 2019 to April 2020.

Stephen also managed Ombra restaurant from April 2018 to September 2019, where they focused on improving operational systems and structures, revenue management, and adapting to consumer trends.

Earlier in their career, Stephen held the position of General Manager at Bedroom Bar from October 2012 to December 2016. Stephen was responsible for all aspects of the business, overseeing its multiple entities and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Stephen began their career as a Bartender at DoubleTree by Hilton from April 2011 to August 2012. Stephen excelled in mixing and serving cocktails, managing stock, and delivering excellent customer service.

Stephen Makin attended the University of Cape Town from 2008 to 2010, where they studied Philosophy and English and obtained a Bachelor of Social Science degree. In 2012, they pursued a User Experience Design program at General Assembly in London, completing their studies in 2013.
