Jiecao Chen

Jiecao Chen is a Principal Scientist and Engineering Director at ByteDance, where responsibilities include leading the Seed team in developing foundation models focused on reasoning, tool use, and intelligent agents. Previously, Jiecao served as an Engineering Manager, overseeing a team dedicated to improving TikTok's search engine functionality. Prior experience includes working as a Research Engineer at Google Research, contributing to language representation learning and efficient NLP models, as well as research roles at Indiana University and internships at Google AI. Jiecao holds a PhD in Computer Science from Indiana University Bloomington and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota.
