Bohdan Horak

Bohdan Horak is an accomplished professional in the field of quantitative research and investment science, currently serving as an Associate in Investment Science at CPP Investments since September 2024. Prior to this role, Bohdan held positions including Senior Quantitative Researcher at AlphaLayer from January 2020 to September 2024, where significant projects included pairs trading, statistical arbitrage strategies, and internal tool development. Bohdan also contributed to academia as a Machine Learning Researcher through a partnership with the University of Alberta and ATB, creating predictive models for customer churn and commercial loan defaults. Earlier experience includes a Financial Analyst role at Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo), focusing on fixed income attribution modeling and performance analytics reports. Bohdan earned a PhD in Statistical Machine Learning, along with a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematical Finance, all from the University of Alberta.
