James Down

James Down is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in private equity and strategic transformation. Currently serving as Managing Director of Portfolio Value Creation at CPP Investments since June 2020, James previously held key positions at Guardian Media Group from 2014 to 2020, including Chief Strategy Officer, where significant contributions led to a turnaround from a negative EBITDA of £57M to a profit in 2019. James has also been involved with the Confederation of British Industry as a member of the Innovation Council and contributed to the launch of the Pangaea digital advertising alliance. Earlier experience includes a managerial role at Bain & Company, focusing on private equity and financial services, and participation in the founding team of HelloFresh UK. James holds a BA in History from the University of Bristol.
