Mathias Hartpence

Mathias Hartpence is a seasoned professional in public affairs and economic policy, currently serving as Managing Director of Global Public Affairs - Americas at CPP Investments since April 2018, after previously holding the position of Director in the same department. Prior experience includes the role of Economist - Policy Lead at RBC, where Mathias developed corporate perspectives on key economic and social policy issues and co-led research on skills needs for Canadian youth. At Sun Life Financial, Mathias advanced several public policy initiatives and led government affairs activities related to regulatory issues. Additional experience encompasses leadership roles at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, along with internships focused on international economic policy and market research. Mathias holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations and International Economics from Johns Hopkins SAIS, a Chinese Language Study Degree from East China Normal University, and a Joint Honours Bachelor's Degree from McGill University.
