Avi Cohen has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Avi began their career in 1993 as a Proprietary Derivative Trader at Kidder, Peabody & Co., where they managed a profitable hedged volatility arbitrage book. In 1994, they joined Moriarty Capital, LLC as a Buy-Side Trader and Portfolio Manager, responsible for idea generation, research, and trading activities at a multinational hedge fund.

In 1999, Avi founded Avian Securities, LLC, a FINRA member institutional research boutique brokerage firm. Avi grew the firm to profitability and oversaw all research efforts, maintaining relationships with investors, management teams, and regulators. As the Founder, Director of Research, and Chairman of the Management Committee, they also managed all accounting functions, compliance activities, and employee supervision.

Avi's work experience also includes roles as the Director and Investment Officer at the Phyllis & Jerome Lyle Rappaport Foundation from 2013 to 2018, where they led investment efforts, due diligence, and portfolio management for a multi-generational family. Avi reorganized and prepared books for sale, assisted in the divestment of an underperforming business, and managed various investments and charitable foundation holdings.

More recently, Avi served as the Chief Financial Officer for F9 Brands Inc. starting in 2018, overseeing companies in the building products and home décor markets. Avi held the same position at Gracious Home, starting in 2018, and Cabinets To Go, starting in 2019. In 2021, Avi joined Southwind Building Products as their Chief Financial Officer.

Avi Cohen completed their high school education at Brooklyn Technical High School from 1986 to 1989, earning a High School Diploma with a focus on Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering. Following this, they pursued higher education at the University of Chicago from 1989 to 1993, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics. Additionally, in July 1993, they obtained a certification as a Financial Principal from FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority).
