Derek Pinkham, PMP, CMP, DES

Derek Pinkham, PMP, CMP, DES, has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Derek currently works as a Project Manager at Cadmium, starting in September 2021. Prior to this, Derek had a long tenure at the Virginia Military Institute, where they served as a Conference Project Manager from July 2009 to September 2021. In this role, they were responsible for planning and implementing conferences, managing registration and email marketing, and maintaining communication with attendees and exhibitors.

Before joining the Virginia Military Institute, Derek worked as an Administrative Assistant at Washington and Lee University from July 2007 to June 2009. Derek also served as a Program Advisor/Provost Office Coordinator at the New England Conservatory from August 2003 to July 2007, and as a Branch Coordinator/Front Desk Assistant at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music from October 2000 to October 2003.

Furthermore, Derek began their career as a Scientist at Colgate Palmolive, where they worked from August 1994 to July 2000. In this role, they participated in team projects, performed method transfer, trained new employees, wrote and published new methodology, programmed and maintained analytical laboratory systems, and conducted GLP and GMP regulatory analyses.

Derek Pinkham holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Chemistry from Bennington College, which they obtained from 1992 to 1994. In terms of certifications, Derek obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in December 2019. Derek also holds the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification from the Convention Industry Council, which they obtained in May 2016. Recently, Derek acquired the Digital Event Strategist (DES) certification from PCMA in September 2022.
