Joe McConnell has a diverse work experience that includes roles in research and development engineering, hockey coaching, and event safety stewarding. In their current role at Caeli Nova, they serve as a research and development engineer. Prior to that, they worked as a hockey coach for Complete Hockey Coaching, where they coached elite young players and focused on technical and tactical aspects of the game. Joe also coached at Western Wildcats Hockey Club, working with a range of age groups and abilities, and continues to coach at their summer camps. Additionally, Joe has experience as an event safety steward at various venues and events, demonstrating their observation and crowd management skills, as well as their ability to communicate effectively in challenging situations.

Joe McConnell attended Douglas Academy from 2009 to 2015. Joe then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde from 2015 to 2020, earning a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree. In 2020, they also briefly studied at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, where they obtained another Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Chemical Engineering.
